This house was built in 1881 by Joseph and Mary Broeker Duerr, a local butcher and his wife. It was opened as a museum in May 1990.
The museum contains children’s toys, kitchen items, school, church, and medical history artifacts, and many other treasures from Perry County. You will be surprised at the vast amount of items that are on display that will amaze and amuse both young and old.
The Museum was updated in 2016/2017, to include tuckpointing, painting the exterior white, landscaping and other smaller upgrades. All donations of labor and materials were noted and greatly appreciated.
Volunteers to help keep the Museum open would be very welcomed. Please contact Jim Hart at 573-547-6383 or the director of the Perry County Historical Society at 573-768-2470.
Small replica birdhouses of the Perry County Museum are available for purchase.
